So why did I choose this gear…?

Well like most things once you have something in particular you need to make sure that any accessories are compatible. So I started off looking at the Olympus gear because it ticked a lot of boxes for me.

  • Value for money

  • weight / size

  • functionally / performance

  • professional

  • overall build quality

Olympus clearly ticked everything I was after but once you added the professional lens it became expensive, although still much much cheaper than the competition. and then one day I was scrolling through my normal gear sites and Park cameras but mispriced the camera.

The camera comes in 3 configurations

  1. the body

  2. The body + 12-40mm f2.8 pro

  3. the Body + 12-40mm f2.8 pro + 40-150mm f2.8 pro.

They had the third config, the camera body and both lenses for the same price every other company was selling the body + 12-40mm f2.8 pro, so after discussing it with Jade, we decided to just go for it, but then when we were paying the price changed at checkout :( so we phoned them and the lovely salesperson honoured the price we had seen online and knocked £1,200 off!! the price of the 40-150mm at the time. Bargain!

And then like everything all the extra bits and bobs came along. an action camera to video myself and start a YouTube channel.

Drone for video and aerial shots.

and then camping gear too!

I already had a passion for wild camping and so the two just go hand in hand with each other! So I've gone for lightweight gear but also gear that works and serves a purpose.
